The Most Important Health Test
The Heart Scan is on special until March 31st at Pueblo Radiology. It is 50% off, making the price only $150 instead of the usual price of $300.
I have been studying this test for over 6 years and had my first test 5 years ago. I consider this test "The Most Important Test" one can have relative to their health, for every male over 40 years old, and over 45 for a female.
There is a lot of information to convey to clarify all the reasons this test is so important. There is so much information on this subject that at some point in the next two months, I will be doing classes for my patient's and their guests on "Cardio-Vascular Clarity - understanding your risk, what can be done to minimize heart attack risk and how to maximize your hearth health".
For now it is important to understand that this test provides the clearest picture of your risk of heart attack now and in the future. It clearly shows if you have any calcified plaque in the arteries of your heart and if so, exactly how much, in how many different spots, and exactly which areas of the arteries.
Cholesterol tests are relatively insignificant compared to this test, as someone can have perfectly great cholesterol levels and still have calcification, and/or someone can have terrible cholesterol numbers and have totally clear arteries. I have seen this in my patients and all doctors who have used this test with any frequency have seen the same.
There has been much mis-information regarding the amount of radiation this test exposes you to. I have researched this a number of different times. It is a relatively low dose of radiation (full body scans are another thing). The amount of radiation falls within the same range as what we are exposed to living on planet earth for a year.
The test is quite simple and takes less than a couple of minutes for the actual test itself.
If you are interested in a heart scan, just let me know and I will write you a prescription. I usually have the results back within a day or two.
By the way, I make no money for referring you for this test. If your results are a zero, I'll call you with the Great News, if they are over a zero, then we'll set up an appointment with you to discuss your specific picture and what can be done to slow, halt or reverse your calcification process.
Meet the New Vitamin D Choice in the Clinic
Upon further investigation of Vitamin D products and research I have come across a new product, a combination of Vitamin K + Vitamin D. If you are concerned about your bone density, and/or a risk of atherosclerosis (calcification of your arteries), this "Vitamin K2 with D3" is the preferred form for you. Otherwise our D-4000 is a fine product, and is less expensive.
Vitamin K is not something you hear about as much as vitamin D. However, it has always been considered a very important nutrient for blood clotting support. Most of the research on vitamin K has been focused on the K1 form that is found in vegetables. However, there are other forms of Vitamin K, the K2 family. These are mostly found in certain aged cheeses, eggs and an unusual Japanese fermented product called Natto. The K2 family has received much more attention in recent years.
The research is clear that individuals with higher levels of Vit. K2 are at lower risk for calcification of their hearts' arteries (20% lower) and aorta. The same process that works well to decrease the deposition of calcium where we don't want it, actually increases the amount of calcium deposition where we do want it, in our bones
The Japanese who consume Natto regularly benefit from high levels of Vitamin K with a decreased risk of heart disease and osteoporosis. In our new Vitamin K2 with D3, the vitamin K is from Natto, without the taste.
In my previous articles on Vitamin D, I mentioned that research has shown the reduction of risk of numerous cancers with Vit. D supplementation. These cancers include; colon, breast, ovarian, prostate, skin cancers, as well as heart disease. Vit. D deficiency has been associated with increased blood pressure, peripheral artery disease and ischemic heart disease, as well as a higher overall death rate than normal vitamin D levels. Recent research also shows an association with low blood levels of Vit. D and Parkinson's disease, as well as Multiple Sclerosis.
So, if you are going to take your vitamin D, our new Vitamin K2 with D3 may be the preferred choice for you. I have switched, and take two per day.
