    3-12 yrs: 1-2 caps, 2x/day
    12+ yrs: 2 caps, 3x/day.
If your child cannot swallow pills, Colostrum powder works very well and tastes good.  Just open the capsules and pour them onto a spoon or mix them in some water or food.

A special note for Breast Feeding Infants: If an infant is breastfeeding, and has an infection, we have the mother take the full adult dosage and the infant will receive support through the mother's milk.  I have used this method with mom's for many years, including my own children and it is quite effective.

Vitamin D and Children

A recent research project looked at supplemental Vitamin D3 dosing in infants, comparing infants who took 400 IU vs. 1,200 IU daily.

Those taking 1,200 IU per day experienced significant benefits when compared to the 400 IU group, with 45% lower rates of new infections.  For infants that did come down with the flu, the group on the higher dose Vit. D had shorter durations of fever, coughing and wheezing.

Additionally, the Vitamin D Council recommends 1,000 - 2,000 IU's of Vitamin D for children.  I suggest 1,000 for children from 3 months - 8 years with occasional short-term amounts increasing to 2,000 IU for a few weeks at a time. Over 8 years I would be comfortable with 2,000 IU on a daily basis.

Additional Info on New Kid's Products

Berry Well Immune Support is a uniquely concentrated botanical extract formula containing Elderberry Extract. This formula provides enhanced levels of natural compounds that provide immune system support. Studies have shown that the properties of Elderberry Extract and Arabinogalactan maintain healthy immune function and promote well-being.

Congaplex Chewable contains vitamins A and C and magnesium to support immune system function. Vitamin A plays an important role in a healthy immune system by facilitating the development of type 1 and type 2 helper T cells as well as contributing to the function of both T cells and B cells.

Vitamin C enhances the healthy function of the immune system by supporting the maturation of T cells. Additionally, vitamin C stimulates the functions of white blood cells and is important in natural killer (NK) cell activity. Vitamin C supports the maintenance and regeneration of cells.

Congaplex Chewable contains Cytosol extract from the bovine thymus gland to support the healthy function of the human thymus gland. T cells are produced in the thymus gland and are very important for a healthy immune system response.
