About Dr. Kara

Born and raised in Boise, Idaho, Dr. Gochnour spent much of her free time playing sports and enjoying outdoor activities. As an athlete, the study of the human body came naturally and eventually led Dr. Gochnour to pursue a degree in Kinesiology at Westmont College while playing on the Women's Tennis team.  Dr. Gochnour earned her Doctorate of Chiropractic from Palmer West Chiropractic College in San Jose, and returned to Santa Barbara where she further developed her knowledge and expertise in a holistic approach to chiropractic care at the Santa Barbara Wellness for Life Clinic with Dr. Dale Migliaccio.

When the spine is properly adjusted the nervous system functions at an optimal level enabling the rest of the body to follow suit. Dr. Gochnour uses the latest technologies, such as thermal scans, to accurately pinpoint the location of any nerve interference and then effectively adjust the spine in order to eliminate the imbalance in the nervous system.

However, adjusting the spine is only one component of Dr. Gochnour's therapeutic touch. In addition, she evaluates her patient's diet, exercise patterns, body composition, and stress levels seeking to inspire them to think proactively about their health. She encourages each patient to pursue the Six Essentials to Health: 1) Sound Nervous System, 2) Exercise, 3) Nutrition, 4) Sleep, 5) Positive Mental Attitude and 6) Posture. Dr. Gochnour believes that these elements, coupled with a healthy spine will increase health, and hopefully lead to a greater enjoyment for life.

In addition, Dr. Gochnour practices B.E.S.T. (Bio Energetic Synchronization Technique).  This state of the art system of health care for balancing body/mind/memory/soul energy fields by removing interference between your body and the power that made your body.  B.E.S.T. updates the brain and nervous system so that it responds to current need instead of past events stored in memory.
